The Skate Of The Nation Address

What's wrong with skateboarding these days? It seems kind of funny to think that HESSENMOB Skateboards used to be known and appreciated for its attempt to maintain and give back to the skateboard culture what it had initially given to its founders and friends: freedom of movement, creativity and limitless inspiration. If you look at skateboarding now it seems like these things are an artefact of the past. Some weird painting on a cave wall. Everything which can't be experienced by using an iPhone seems hopelessly dated to most kids out there. Noone seems to have time to try and decipher things they don't have an App for. Skateboarding is all surface now, all entertainment - void of any culture but the culture of cosumption. Skateboarding hasn't changed though. It still offers the same great experiences and it can still be a great source of inspiration. But nowadays you have to dig deeper and stay focused which is hard for most of the youth because they are more concerned that they might miss something else. The next new hot clip or the next funny post ... but at the end of the day you have to live your life offline - and that's where skateboarding belongs. It belongs to you. Not to a fashion trend. Not to the Berrics. Not to Instagram. That's just some icing covering the whole cake with a coat of sugar. Once you've scraped that off, what really counts is what you taste when you take a real bite. A chewy one. So, don't let the sugar coat make you sick, get some nutrients, kids.

We are OKAY at the BRIGHT Tradeshow.

We are OKAY auf der BRIGHT. from MOB Skateboards on Vimeo.

This week all major players in the skateboard business get together in Berlin for the Bright tradeshow. Unfortunetly, we can't be there representing in a real-life booth, so the guys at OKAY Distribution made a little clip showing what we got to offer for the Fall/Winter season 2012. German language skills required :)

We are OKAY, You are OKAY.
